News on the statue I Am Queen Mary


1st March 2018 the statue ‘I Am Queen Mary’ was inaugurated in Copenhagen in front of the West Indian Warehouse.

In February 2021 the Danish government officially permitted the artists La Vaughn Belle and Jeannette Ehlers to place the statue permanently in Copenhagen, and encouraged them in raising the remaining funds for a bronze version of the statue.

Director Angela Golden Bryans new documentary is circulating in film festivals: ‘Fireburn the Documentary, a powerful short film on the human rights violations that occurred during the Fireburn — the bloody Labor Revolt of 1878, on the Island of St. Croix — will make its global debut at various film festivals this year and was just awarded Best Documentary Short at the Chicago Indie Film Awards, and will air on PBS in 2022.’
